I found out about this show through an email from the Goings On column at the New Yorker. The description said it was the brainchild of Lin Manuel Miranda pre Hamilton and In The Heights. Key words included:
again… Lin Manuel Miranda
I was sold. My partner’s birthday was coming up and even though he never saw Hamilton, he knew all the lyrics to every song. This also seemed very much up his alley… and luckily the ONLY DAY that had not sold out was the next one. “I hope you don’t have plans. We’re going to the theater.”
I was so, so impressed with how talented the performers were. They created entire narratives, storylines, songs… all from random words the audience would shout out. It was basically an improv show but with hip hop rhymes — making it infinitely more challenging!
They’re doing a very limited off-broadway performance, 6 weeks only. If you by any chance are able to get tickets, GO. It’s so worth it.
